Happy Girls are Pretty and Other Truths we Forget

The best way to get what you want is to begin at the end. Really. It feels counterintuitive but it’s absolutely true in every case. That’s what I love about this Audrey Hepburn quote. I tend to want to believe that pretty girls are happier but the truth is, happy girls are the prettiest. ALSO…

We think that people who are rich don’t worry about not having enough. But really people who know there is more than enough end up rich.

People who exercise in an attempt to love their bodies usually quit. People who love their bodies exercise all the time.

We believe that if we were adored by others, we would be confident. The truth is confident people are adored by others.

If my kids did what they are supposed to do, I wouldn’t have to yell. Or perhaps if I didn’t yell, I could get my kids to do what they are supposed to do.

One day when my job doesn’t demand so much of me, I’ll be able to make time for what I want. How about: If I make time for what I want, my job will learn not to demand so much of me.

When my house is cleaned up, I’ll feel like I am on top of things. But really when I feel like I’m on top of things, I’m much better at keeping a clean house.

When I lose the weight, then I’ll really love myself. But really truly loving yourself comes with weight loss as a byproduct.

When I see the blessings, I’ll have more faith. But we know we must have faith, and then the blessings come.

If I had more girlfriends I would have more fun in my life. Truly when you figure out how to create more fun in your life, you’ll find girlfriends showing up everywhere.

If my husband would behave differently then I could be at peace. The truth is, when you finally make peace with how your husband is, that is the moment when he’ll surprise you by behaving differently.

Begin at the end. That’s how miracles happen. It works every time.
